Community Service

We pride ourselves on giving back to the community through numerous community service projects, participating both as individuals and as an office. Whether it’s volunteering at local mobile dental clinics, raising money for dental charities, or hosting our own community service events, we’re committed to making a positive impact where we live and work. Our team believes that strong communities are built through active engagement, and we’re proud to contribute our time, energy, and resources to causes that matter.

Grateful Smiles for Veterans

On July 25th, 2025, our office proudly hosted the very first Grateful Smiles for Veterans event — a self-hosted day dedicated to providing free dental care for local veterans. This special event was created to give back to the brave men and women who have served our country, offering essential dental services such as cleanings, fillings, extractions, x-rays, and fluoride treatments at no cost.

The day was made possible by the generosity of 12 volunteers who contributed a combined 88 hours of service, valued at $4,365.60. In total, we were honored to serve 23 veterans, providing 14 hygiene visits, 4 fluoride treatments, 4 fillings, 7 extractions, and 10 x-rays — delivering a total of $14,001 in care, with $9,635 in direct dental services.

A special thank you goes to Mary from Mission Smiles for partnering with us during the event, and to Tami from the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund for providing veterans with valuable resources to continue receiving care through the WVRF after the event. We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this day a success and are already looking forward to continuing this tradition next year.

Operation Stand Down

Operation Stand Down is a multi-day, community-based event held in the Tampa Bay area that provides vital support to homeless and at-risk veterans. The event brings together local organizations, volunteers, and service providers to offer a wide range of essential services—all in one location. Veterans can access healthcare, housing assistance, employment resources, legal aid, mental health support, meals, clothing, and transportation.

A key feature of Operation Stand Down is the provision of free dental care. Veterans receive services such as cleanings, fillings, extractions, and denture fittings from licensed professionals and student volunteers. This comprehensive approach ensures that participants not only receive immediate relief but also gain access to resources that promote long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

Mission Smiles

Mission Smiles – Mobile Dental Care for Hillsborough County
Mission Smiles is a mobile dental clinic program serving Hillsborough County, dedicated to providing free emergency dental care to individuals living near poverty levels. Partnering with local churches and ministries, the program offers vital services—such as cleanings, fillings, and extractions—to some of the community’s most vulnerable populations, including victims of human trafficking, homeless veterans, and individuals facing financial hardship. Hosting about 18 clinics each year, Mission Smiles restores both oral health and hope for those who might otherwise go without care.

Dr. Mitchell’s Volunteer Contribution
Dr. Mitchell is a committed and regular volunteer with Mission Smiles. On select weekends, she donates her time and expertise to serve in the mobile dental clinics, providing compassionate care to trafficking survivors, homeless veterans, and others in need.
